What happened: Lasko collided with minor league teammate Devin Taylor during a game in Texas. He underwent spinal decompression and stabilization surgery for a fractured C6-C7 vertebra.

Why it matters: He also reported involuntary leg movements and returning sensation in his thighs, hamstrings and back. The Athletics have rallied around him with shirts bearing his name and number.

What to watch: Lasko said recovery will be a lengthy process as he continues rehabilitation.
