What happened: The Edmonton Oilers issued a statement extending condolences to the family and friends of Claude Lemieux. The club praised the longtime forward, nicknamed "Pepe," as beloved by teammates and respected by opponents across his 21 NHL seasons. The Oilers remembered him as one of the game's most reliable and clutch performers.

Why it matters: Lemieux ranks among the most decorated playoff performers of his era, and the Oilers' message joins a wave of tributes following the death of the four-time Stanley Cup champion. His reputation as a big-moment scorer made him a defining figure of NHL postseasons during his career.

What to watch: Tributes continue to pour in across the league, including a statement from Commissioner Gary Bettman, as teams and former teammates honor Lemieux's legacy.
