What happened: San Francisco released veteran defensive tackle Naquan Jones to open a roster spot, per Tom Pelissero. Jones is vested and goes straight to free agency without going through waivers.

Why it matters: The move gives San Francisco an open spot to address depth elsewhere on the roster. Jones becomes immediately available to join another defensive front as a vested veteran.

What to watch: San Francisco's next corresponding addition will show where the open spot goes.
