Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 18, 2026
This policy explains what data Wire Report collects when you use wire.report, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can opt out or request deletion. We try to keep this accurate to what the site actually does. If anything here is unclear, contact us using the address at the bottom of the page.
1. What we collect
- Reading the site: you do not need an account to read articles. Standard server and analytics logs record requests (such as page URL, referrer, approximate region, browser type, and device type) so we can keep the site running and understand which coverage is read.
- Comments (Google sign-in): posting a comment requires signing in with Google. We receive your Google display name, email address, and account identifier. The display name appears publicly next to your comment. The email and account identifier are used for moderation, rate limiting, and abuse prevention, and are not shown publicly.
- Newsletter: if you subscribe to a Wire Report email digest, we store the email address you provide and your subscription preferences so we can send the digest you asked for.
- WR Pro: if you subscribe to the paid WR Pro tier, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers on our servers. We retain the billing email, subscription status, and the records needed to provide and account for the service.
2. How we use it
We use the data above to operate the site, publish and moderate comments, send the newsletter and WR Pro emails you opted into, process WR Pro payments, prevent spam and abuse, and measure aggregate traffic so we can improve coverage. We do not sell your personal data.
3. Cookies and similar storage
We use cookies and similar browser storage for a few purposes: keeping you signed in for comments, remembering your theme preference, and analytics. Analytics cookies help us count visits and understand which pages are read. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings; if you block sign-in cookies, the comment feature will not work.
4. Third-party services
We rely on the following third-party providers, each of which handles data under its own privacy policy:
- Google OAuth — sign-in for comments.
- Google Analytics — aggregate traffic measurement.
- Brevo — newsletter and email delivery.
- Stripe — payment processing for WR Pro.
Some articles also embed publicly posted content from X (Twitter) and YouTube through those platforms' official embed mechanisms. When such an embed loads, the originating platform may set its own cookies and receive your request directly. See our Terms of Service for more on embedded content.
5. Advertising
We may in the future work with third-party advertising partners, such as Google AdSense, that use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads based on your visits to this and other sites. If and when we run such advertising, those partners may collect data as described in their own policies, and you will be able to manage ad personalization through your Google Ads settings or industry opt-out tools. This clause is included so that the policy already covers that case; it does not assert that ads are running today.
6. Your choices and opting out
- Newsletter: every email includes an unsubscribe link. You can opt out at any time.
- Comments: you can stop using the comment feature at any time and sign out of Google.
- Cookies: clear or block them in your browser. Analytics and ad personalization can also be limited through your browser and Google account settings.
- Deletion: to request deletion of your comment history, newsletter subscription, or account data, contact us using the address below.
7. Data retention
We keep data for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected: published comments remain until removed, newsletter and WR Pro records remain while your subscription is active and for a reasonable period afterward for accounting and abuse prevention, and aggregate analytics are retained per the analytics provider's defaults. We delete data on a verified request where we are not required to retain it.
8. Children
Wire Report is a general-audience sports news site and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
9. Changes
We may update this policy as the site changes. Material updates will be dated at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance.
