What happened: Adam Jiricek was in Springfield expecting to open the year in the AHL before injuries to Logan Mailloux and Tyler Tucker changed the plan. He made his NHL debut Friday, with Libor and Lanka Jiricek making the trip from Prague to Dallas to see it.

Why it matters: The change fast-tracks Jiricek from an expected AHL start into NHL action at the start of the preseason. It also shows how quickly injuries can reshape the defensive depth chart and force an immediate adjustment.

What to watch: What comes next is whether Jiricek stays in the NHL mix through the next round of roster decisions. Any change involving Logan Mailloux or Tyler Tucker would further shape that path.
