What happened: ESPN and Adam Schefter are finalizing a long-term contract extension, according to Front Office Sports. The agreement pairs him for the foreseeable future with fellow insider Ian Rapoport following the company's acquisition of NFL Network.

Why it matters: The move solidifies the organization's football news desk for the next decade. Schefter recently pushed back on speculation he would follow the retirement path of former colleague Adrian Wojnarowski, and this deal ensures his continued presence on programming like NFL Countdown.

What to watch: Financial terms of the new agreement have not been disclosed.
