What happened: Will Anderson Jr. ranks second among NFL edge defenders with a 90.8 PFF defensive grade this season, just ahead of third-place Abdul Carter at 90.3. Nik Bonitto holds fourth at 89.0 and Boye Mafe sits fifth at 88.2 behind Hutchinson's league-leading 92.2 mark.

Why it matters: The updated leaderboard extends the regular-season edge for Aidan Hutchinson, who previously led edge defenders at 91.4 on Oct. 20 after Will Anderson Jr. paced the position at 92.8 on Oct. 6. Per ESPN (as of Sept. 29, 2026), 2022 No. 2 overall pick Hutchinson posted 54 tackles, 14.5 sacks and one interception across 17 games in 2025, while 2022 second-round selections Bonitto (46 tackles, 14 sacks) and Mafe (31 tackles, two sacks) and 2025 No. 3 overall pick Carter (43 tackles, four sacks) also logged 17-game seasons in 2025.

By the numbers: A 4.0-point margin separates the top five 2026 PFF edge defensive grades from No. 1 Hutchinson (92.2) to No. 5 Mafe (88.2), with 0.5 points dividing second-place Anderson (90.8) and third-place Carter (90.3). Earlier 2026 PFF edge benchmarks were led by T.J. Watt in Week 1 at 92.3 (Sept. 15), Anderson at 92.8 (Oct. 6) and Hutchinson at 91.4 (Oct. 20).

What to watch: Upcoming 2026 regular-season action will test Hutchinson's 1.4-point lead over Anderson and 1.9-point margin over Carter atop the PFF edge rankings.
