What happened: A'ja Wilson tallied eight quick points to begin the 2026 WNBA Playoffs. She converted three of her first four field goal attempts, hitting a contested jumper in the opening moments of the broadcast.

Why it matters: Immediate offensive production dictates the tempo of a postseason matchup. Much like when A'ja Wilson scores 17 points before halftime, forcing the issue early requires opposing defenses to quickly abandon their primary coverage plans.

What to watch: Opposing defenders will likely begin sending consistent double teams to force the ball out of her hands.
