What happened: Alabama dropped to 5-1 Saturday night at Bryant-Denny Stadium in a 20-17 SEC loss to Georgia. ESPN's updated index kept the Tide at No. 6 with a 26.6 rating, down from 27.0 entering the game.

Why it matters: The model still projects a 10.2-2.3 finish with a 23.9% chance to win the SEC. A 5.4-point dip in playoff probability leaves Alabama positioned as a contender through the second half of league play.

By the numbers: No. 6 FPI at 26.6, from 27.0; 32.1% to win remaining games; 82.3% to make the playoff, from 87.7%; 10% to win the national title, from 12.5%.

What to watch: Alabama travels to No. 13 Tennessee on Oct. 17. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
