What happened: The Brazilian lowered the standard by 0.14 seconds at the Zurich Diamond League meet. Karsten Warholm took second in 46.69, finishing 0.89 seconds back.

Why it matters: Dos Santos became the second man to break 46 seconds in the event and the first to go below 45.90. The result resets the benchmark in one of track's marquee rivalries.

By the numbers: Four days after running a 2026 world lead of 46.43 in Silesia, dos Santos improved that mark by 0.63 seconds in Zurich.

What to watch: The Diamond League series final is scheduled for Sept. 4-5 in Brussels.
