What happened: MLB Network's Yonder Alonso named Tarik Skubal, Mason Miller, Joe Ryan, A.J. Minter and Hunter Goodman as his top five trade targets ahead of the Aug. 3 deadline. Miller has already changed hands, landing with the Padres via a June call-up. Skubal, Ryan, Minter and Goodman remain with their current teams as the deadline approaches.

Why it matters: Ryan is drawing Yankees interest after fanning 89 batters since May 1. Minter has struck out 30 with a 0.98 ERA since June 1, though his club faces no pressure to deal him. The list points to a thin market for controllable, front-line arms with roughly two weeks left before the deadline.

By the numbers: Joe Ryan: 89 strikeouts since May 1. A.J. Minter: 30 strikeouts, 0.98 ERA since June 1.

What to watch: Teams continue sorting buyers from sellers over the next two weeks before the Aug. 3 deadline.
