What happened: Super Bowl champion and analyst Jason McCourty warned that the Kansas City Chiefs could miss the playoffs again in the upcoming 2026 season. The skepticism comes despite the anticipated return of quarterback Patrick Mahomes from a severe knee injury.

Why it matters: The Chiefs are attempting to bounce back from a disappointing 2025 campaign that snapped an eight-year postseason streak. While Kansas City brought back offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy to address systemic issues, concerns remain regarding the team's receiving weapons and offensive depth.

What to watch: The Chiefs' offensive additions and line protection will be heavily scrutinized as training camp begins. Mahomes' mobility and recovery progress remain the central focus ahead of Week 1.
