What happened: Angel Reese advanced to the 2026 WNBA Finals six months after a mid-year trade reshaped her trajectory. Earlier this month, Reese captured the 2026 Kia WNBA Defensive Player of the Year award before anchoring a deep postseason run.

Why it matters: Turning a midseason move into the league's top defensive honor and a championship series berth underscores her value as a postseason anchor. Her interior rebounding and second-chance creation have driven her contendership ahead of the 2027 WNBA offseason.

By the numbers: Reese set a single-game 25, 2026.

What to watch: Game 4 of the 2026 WNBA Finals is up next as Reese pursues her first professional championship.
