What happened: Davis shot 4-of-6 and grabbed six rebounds while attacking the paint in the opening period. The home crowd answered with MVP chants eight minutes into the season.

Why it matters: A fast start establishes Davis as Washington's interior anchor entering a season built around a playoff push. Early efficiency eases the creation burden on younger teammates during a crowded opening-night slate.

What to watch: Watch whether Davis sustains his paint touches and workload through the second half of the opener.
