We've signed Matilde Villa to a Developmental Contract. Welcome to the 🅰️, Matilde! https://t.co/y4To5wl2yd Via @AtlantaDream on X

What happened: Atlanta added Villa to its developmental roster Tuesday, bringing in the guard on a lower-commitment deal. The move places her in the club's player pool for a possible late-season call-up.

Why it matters: The signing continues Atlanta's use of developmental slots after the Dream signed Jaylyn Sherrod to a developmental contract on June 30. It also gives the club another evaluation window at guard depth as the regular season moves deeper into September.

By the numbers: Wire Report has logged six WNBA developmental-contract signings since June 24, including Villa. The previous five in that span were Sania Feagin, Jaylyn Sherrod, Indya Nivar, Morgan Maly and Kate Martin.

What to watch: Watch for Villa's first appearance on an active game-day roster and any follow-up move that clarifies Atlanta's next roster step.
