What happened: Austin FC and forward Christian Ramirez agreed to a new contract through the 2027-28 season. Ramirez, 35, has 9 goals and 2 assists in 1,238 minutes. The 2023 MLS Cup winner stays in Austin after emerging as a revelation.

Why it matters: The agreement keeps a late-career scorer in the squad without using another acquisition. The output outpaced a part-time role and stabilized forward depth. Retaining that profile lets Austin direct other roster slots elsewhere.

What to watch: Austin continues the 2026 regular season with his status for 2027-28 settled.
