What happened: Derrick Barnes discussed the Detroit Lions' pass rush through the first three weeks of the 2026 season.

Why it matters: Three weeks is an early checkpoint for how Detroit is trending up front. Barnes, the same linebacker who opened a second half with an interception in prior Wire Report coverage, is coming off a 2025 season with 78 tackles, four sacks and one interception in 17 games.

By the numbers: Barnes made 78 tackles, 4 sacks and 1 interception in 17 games for Detroit in 2025. The Lions drafted him in the fourth round in 2021, 113th overall, out of Purdue.

What to watch: The next few games will offer a larger sample on how Detroit's rush is shaping up beyond the opening three-week snapshot.
