Stefanski: No updates on Jessie Bates. He will do more today. #Falcons Via @marcraimondi on X

What happened: Kevin Stefanski kept the veteran safety on a gradual rehabilitation track for lower-back pain. Bates was on the field Tuesday without pads or cleats.

Why it matters: The progression gives Atlanta two days to assess Bates before its preseason opener. He is entering the final season of the four-year contract he signed in 2023.

By the numbers: Bates missed four consecutive practices before resuming limited on-field work.

What to watch: His participation Thursday will offer the next indication of his availability for Friday.
