Chicago wants support opposite Montez Sweat.

Wire Report IntelligenceUpdated Sep 21 min read

What happened: ESPN's Dan Graziano reported Chicago remains involved in the market for a defensive end. The Bears are seeking a stronger edge presence alongside Montez Sweat after adding Marcus Davenport to the practice squad.

Why it matters: An added pass rusher could address a thin defensive front before the 2026 season begins. Chicago recently moved defensive lineman Gervon Dexter Sr. to Atlanta.

By the numbers: Chicago acquired Montez Sweat in a 2023 deadline trade, following notable late-August defensive-line deals in 2004 and 2018.

What to watch: Watch whether Chicago converts its reported interest into a deal before the season opener.
