What happened: Zehnder moved with Sauber's sportscar operation into Formula 1 in 1993. He later became team manager for the Swiss outfit.

Why it matters: His exit ends a link to the Hinwil operation's pre-F1 years. It follows Jonathan Wheatley's March departure as Audi team principal.

By the numbers: From Sauber's 1993 F1 debut through 2026, Zehnder's tenure spans 34 F1 seasons.

What to watch: Audi's 2027 staffing will establish how Zehnder's responsibilities are handled after his departure.
