What happened: In ESPN's E60 documentary on Ben Simmons, the guard criticized Doc Rivers for his postgame remarks following the 2021 Eastern Conference semifinals Game 7 loss to the Atlanta Hawks. Simmons said Rivers threw others under the bus out of fear of losing his coaching job.

Why it matters: The 2021 series finale against the Atlanta Hawks marked a turning point in Simmons' tenure in Philadelphia and fractured his relationship with the coaching staff. His direct public assessment of Rivers revisits one of the most scrutinized postgame exchanges of that playoff run.

What to watch: Additional segments from the ESPN documentary will continue to air as the 2026-27 NBA preseason wraps up.
