Here’s what Sebastian Berhalter would tell his younger self ❤️ @USMNT takes on Australia in today’s group stage match a

What happened: Sebastian Berhalter shared a reflective message on what he would tell his younger self ahead of the United States' World Cup group-stage meeting with Australia. The Vancouver Whitecaps midfielder checked in during the second half as the U.S. closed out a 2-0 win over the Socceroos. He entered at the 74th minute of the match.

Why it matters: Berhalter's continued role on the national stage underscores his climb from MLS regular to a trusted World Cup squad piece. This is the same Berhalter who opened the U.S. World Cup campaign earlier this month. The result keeps the United States advancing on home soil.

By the numbers: Berhalter entered in the 74th minute of the 2-0 victory over Australia. He was voted to the 2026 MLS All-Star First XI earlier this month.

What to watch: Focus shifts to the United States' next group-stage fixture as it pushes for a place in the knockout round.
