What happened: Columbus added the former Vancouver defenseman to camp ahead of the 2025-26 season. The move puts an experienced left-side option into the preseason mix as roster battles open.

Why it matters: Soucy's Blue Jackets tryout gives Columbus a low-risk look at a veteran option while it sorts its blue line for the preseason. Because the deal is a PTO, the club can evaluate fit through camp before committing a contract spot.

What to watch: Watch whether Soucy earns a standard contract before Columbus sets its opening roster. His preseason usage should show where he fits on the Blue Jackets' left side.
