11 rebounds for Brook Lopez tonight Last season, Lopez had only two games with at least 10 rebounds. He also matched hi Via @LawMurrayTheNU on X

What happened: Lopez paired his boards with 17 points in Thursday's 121-96 regular-season opener, per Law Murray. Rui Hachimura also pulled down eight rebounds on the night, a threshold he reached only twice during the previous campaign, including the regular-season finale.

Why it matters: The 7-foot-1 center enters the 2026-27 campaign playing on an exercised $9.2 million team option and working closer to the basket after spending much of the prior year on the perimeter. Surpassing his previous rebounding pace in the opener provides immediate interior support and reduces pressure on the perimeter rotation.

By the numbers: Lopez secured his 10th board with 9:08 left in the fourth quarter and notched four consecutive interior points in the post, while Hachimura's rebounding uptick follows a 13-point preseason outing on Oct. 15.

What to watch: Frontcourt rebounding distribution and interior usage will be tracked across the opening week of the 2026-27 regular-season slate.
