What happened: Brown and James connected twice in succession during third-quarter play. One point separated the sides.

Why it matters: The exchange offers an early measure of two-man chemistry to open the season. A one-possession margin raises the value of each conversion.

What to watch: The fourth quarter will show whether the initiation continues and which five closes it out.
