Browns claim Blackmon, release Tillman in roster swap

Both entered the NFL as 2023 third-round picks

What happened: Indianapolis waived Mekhi Blackmon on Wednesday after one season. Minnesota drafted the cornerback and traded him to the Colts before the 2025 season.

Why it matters: The waiver award gives Cleveland another cornerback to evaluate before Sunday’s cut to 53 players. Earning a roster spot would make the Browns Blackmon’s third NFL stop.

By the numbers: Blackmon has 105 tackles, three interceptions, one sack and one fumble recovery in 32 career games. He played 15 games as a rookie, missed 2024 with a torn ACL and appeared in all 17 games for Indianapolis.

What to watch: The transaction will process Friday after Cleveland’s Thursday night game, with the final roster cut due Sunday.
