What happened: Bryan Baker became the first MLB pitcher since saves became an official statistic in 1969 to secure a save without yielding a single hit in every game of a postseason sweep of three or more games. The right-hander closed out the final inning of each contest with perfect efficiency.

Why it matters: Acquiring the All-Star closer solidified the bullpen for high-leverage October situations. The lockdown performance prevents late-game variance as the organization prepares for the next round.

By the numbers: The closer has successfully converted 32 consecutive save opportunities dating back to May 17.

What to watch: The pitching staff enters the League Championship Series with a fully rested closing option.
