Transactions: We have recalled defenseman Hunter McDonald from the @LVPhantoms (AHL). Defenseman Helge Grans and forward Via @NHLFlyers on X

What happened: Defenseman Helge Grans and forward Jack Studnicka were loaned to Lehigh Valley in corresponding roster transactions. McDonald moves up from the AHL affiliate to fill the blue-line vacancy during York's absence.

Why it matters: Retroactive placement to Oct. 8 counts time York has already missed toward the minimum injured-reserve requirement while opening an active roster spot. McDonald, who signed a two-year contract in August, steps into the NHL defensive group as Grans and Studnicka shift to AHL duty.

What to watch: McDonald joins the active rotation for upcoming regular-season play while Grans and Studnicka report to Lehigh Valley.
