What happened: Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Junior Caminero has surged to the top of the American League All-Star ballot in the first official voting update of 2026. Caminero has recorded 625,520 votes, establishing a lead of nearly 70,000 over his closest competitor at the position.

Why it matters: Coming off a breakout 45-home run season in 2025, Caminero has maintained his status as a premier power threat with 15 home runs and an .861 OPS through mid-June. His performance has solidified the Rays' infield and positioned him to earn his first fan-elected All-Star start.

What to watch: Phase 1 of All-Star voting concludes on June 25, when the top two vote-getters at each position will advance to the final round to determine the starters in Philadelphia.
