What happened: Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell discussed Drew Petzing's early influence on the offense during the team's offseason program. The comments came as Detroit continues installing Petzing's system ahead of the 2026 season.

Why it matters: The update matters because Petzing is a new offensive coordinator tasked with shaping Detroit's post-2025 reset on that side of the ball. In June OTAs, the emphasis is less on results and more on terminology, problem-solving and how quickly the offense can absorb a new play-caller's approach.

What to watch: Watch whether Campbell's optimism carries into training camp, when installation gives way to depth-chart decisions and full-speed evaluation. Petzing's preseason usage will offer the first clearer look at how much the offense changes in 2026.
