What happened: The London Knights traded goaltender Aleksei Medvedev to the Peterborough Petes in exchange for three future OHL draft selections, including a 2027 third-rounder and a 2028 second-rounder. The deal unites the 2025 Vancouver Canucks second-round pick with forward Adam Novotny, Vancouver's 2026 first-round selection. Medvedev spent parts of three seasons with London before the move.

Why it matters: The trade consolidates two of Vancouver's top junior prospects on the same roster for their development cycles. Peterborough gains goaltending stability to bolster an 8-10 squad pushing for Eastern Conference playoff positioning. For Medvedev, the change of scenery offers a reset after his save percentage slipped to .891 during the 2025-26 campaign.

By the numbers: Medvedev posted a 22-8-2 record with a 2.79 goals-against average and .912 save percentage for London in 2024-25 before dropping to 3.26 and .891 in 2025-26. Novotny leads Peterborough with 22 points (10 goals, 12 assists) through 16 games this season after scoring 34 goals in 58 games in 2025-26.

What to watch: Peterborough hosts the Niagara IceDogs on November 8, when Medvedev could make his debut for the Petes.
