What happened: The St. Louis Cardinals selected shortstop Owen Henne with the 175th pick in the 2026 MLB Draft. The pick follows earlier St. Louis selections of SS Rocco Maniscalco (No. 50), RHP Cal Randall (No. 146), OF Trevor Condon (No. 13) and OF Andrew Williamson (No. 68).

Why it matters: Henne joins a Cardinals draft class that reactions around the league have flagged as deep through five rounds, including the same Trevor Condon St. Louis took with the No. 13 pick, ranked No. 16 nationally on Baseball America's board. St. Louis is stacking infield and pitching depth across multiple rounds rather than leaning on one position group.

What to watch: The draft resumes for Rounds 5-20, with St. Louis expected to add further picks to the class.
