What happened: Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell announced that Carson Wentz will start Monday night against Buffalo. Starting quarterback Kyler Murray will miss the contest due to a hamstring injury. Max Brosmer will serve as the backup behind Wentz.

Why it matters: The start marks Wentz's second starting nod of the season after previously stepping in under center in September, when Wentz started at Chicago. Minnesota turns to the veteran passer to guide the offense as the team looks to rebound from a 19-15 division loss to Detroit.

By the numbers: Wentz has completed 23 of 39 passes for 276 yards with 3 touchdowns in 2026 through 2 games. Murray has completed 100 of 154 passes for 1022 yards with 5 touchdowns and 3 interceptions in 2026 through 6 games.

What to watch: The Vikings face Buffalo on Monday night, with Murray continuing evaluation on his hamstring leading into next week.
