What happened: Rays outfielder Chandler Simpson delivered a two-RBI performance to push Tampa Bay ahead of the Boston Red Sox in their primetime matchup on ESPN. The Rays-Red Sox game headlined Thursday's ten-game slate. Simpson's production at the top of the lineup powered the go-ahead swing.

Why it matters: Tampa Bay entered the night unbeaten against the AL East, and Simpson's emergence at the top of the order is a major reason why. The same speed-and-contact profile that produced his first over-the-fence pro home run in spring is now translating to wins against divisional contenders. The AL East has produced three different winners across the last three seasons, and the Rays are pressing for another turn.

What to watch: Watch whether Simpson stays locked in atop the order as the Rays close out the Red Sox series. Tampa Bay's perfect AL East record will be tested across the rest of the divisional schedule.
