What happened: During the league's All-Star Media Day broadcast, MLB Network's Chris Young interviewed Pete Crow-Armstrong about his offensive production and first-half contributions. The appearance follows Chicago's 8-4 final victory over the Cincinnati Reds, which gave the Cubs a 2-1 series lead heading into the All-Star break.

Why it matters: Crow-Armstrong has served as a central offensive catalyst for Chicago this summer, earning National League Player of the Week honors in June after recording a 12-game hitting streak and hitting for the 13th cycle in His production helped the Cubs post a 23-3 win over the San Diego Padres on July 1, marking the club's largest margin of victory this season.

By the numbers: Across 90 regular-season contests prior to the break, Chicago posted a 48-42 record while averaging 4.9 runs scored and 4.5 runs allowed per game. In five head-to-head meetings against Cincinnati this season, the Cubs claimed four victories, limiting the Reds to 4.2 runs per contest across their 86 total games.

What to watch: Crow-Armstrong and the National League roster will compete in the midsummer exhibition on Tuesday. Following the break, Chicago resumes regular-season play while Hoyer and the front office evaluate deadline strategy and potential bullpen additions.
