Chiefs, Steelers, Commanders show interest in Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr.

Steelers prefer Colts' Josh Downs; he is KC's Plan B

What happened: The Chiefs, Steelers and Commanders have interest in Jaguars receiver Brian Thomas Jr., per ProFootballTalk. The 2024 first-rounder is said to be open to a fresh start after not clicking with the coaching staff that arrived in 2025. Pittsburgh has greater interest in Colts receiver Josh Downs, who is Kansas City's fallback if Thomas can't be pried loose.

Why it matters: Jacksonville is 5-2 and holds the No. 4 seed, so it has little reason to sell without a big offer, and its asking price reportedly doesn't match Thomas' current usage. The Jaguars also have to weigh whether to send him to an AFC contender such as Kansas City. Washington would presumably be buying for 2027 and 2028, once the fifth-year option is exercised. Kansas City's interest in Thomas has been building ahead of the Nov. 10 deadline.

By the numbers: Thomas had 1,282 receiving yards as a rookie in 2024 and 707 in 2025. In 2026 through 6 games he has 9 catches for 105 yards and 1 touchdown. Jakobi Meyers has 20 catches for 285 yards and 2 touchdowns through 6 games, and Parker Washington has 26 catches for 416 yards and 4 touchdowns over the same span. Downs has 26 catches for 307 yards through 7 games.

What to watch: Watch whether Jacksonville's price drops before the Nov. 10 deadline, and whether Kansas City pivots to Downs if Thomas stays put.
