What happened: Chris Sale recorded his 500th strikeout as a member of the Atlanta Braves. He became the 10th pitcher in MLB history to reach 500 strikeouts with three different teams.

Why it matters: The milestone underscores Sale’s sustained dominance across multiple stops. Atlanta enters its next scheduled game at 51-35 while averaging 4.7 runs and allowing 3.7 per game.

By the numbers: Sale has recorded at least 500 strikeouts with three teams, a feat achieved by only 10 pitchers in MLB history. The Braves are 51-35 and have split their past four games.

What to watch: Sale’s next scheduled appearance will offer his first opportunity to build on the 500-strikeout mark with Atlanta.
