What happened: Columbus Crew credited a structure that let attackers show individual quality while keeping defensive solidity. The group delivered on both ends in last night's outing.

Why it matters: Two-way efficiency shortens games in knockout soccer, where one transition decides advancement. Finding that balance now matters with a home final six days out.

What to watch: Columbus hosts the Open Cup final Oct. 21 at home. The ticket push is underway for the championship match.
