What happened: Craig Conroy said Calgary aims to stay competitive every night while remaining realistic about its timeline. He also addressed new-arena progress and how potential trade pieces fit that path.

Why it matters: Calgary's timeline determines how aggressively it reshapes the roster in the coming months. Arena progress frames the longer-term backdrop for those hockey decisions. Clarity on trade pieces signals which direction the club leans.

What to watch: Attention turns to whether Conroy's timeline produces movement around trade pieces. Further arena details will define the off-ice timeline.
