What happened: Dallas' newly acquired cornerback said he is preparing with the expectation that he can make his team debut Sunday in Houston. He said his coverage can take away top receivers and added that he wants to improve his ball production after recording three career interceptions.

Why it matters: Dallas has been pushing to get help into its secondary quickly as it moves through a compressed early-season stretch. A Sunday debut would accelerate the integration of the cornerback Dallas acquired in a win-now push earlier this week.

What to watch: Dallas' final practice work and game-status decisions will determine whether he is active Sunday. The next question is whether the Cowboys ease him in or give him an immediate every-down role.
