What happened: Chicago selected first baseman Myles Bailey of Florida State with the 75th overall pick in the 2026 MLB Draft. Bailey is the third player Chicago has taken in the draft's early rounds, joining RHP Cade Townsend, selected 23rd overall, and OF Caden Sorrell, taken 62nd.

Why it matters: The pick adds another college bat to a Chicago farm system building out its position-player depth on Day 2 of the draft. Three top-75 selections in one class signals an organizational push to restock talent behind the current roster.

By the numbers: 75 carried a assigned slot value of $1,120,900 in the competitive-balance round.

What to watch: Chicago continues making selections as the draft moves through its remaining rounds.
