Pitt is ON THE BOARD vs. No. 1 Miami 👀 Damon Ferguson runs in the 5-yard score to make it a 10-point game vs. the Canes Via @YahooSports on X

What happened: Damon Ferguson Jr. capped a Pitt drive with a five-yard rushing touchdown to open the Panthers' scoring after Miami built a 17-0 lead.

Why it matters: Pitt entered Saturday's matchup without running back Ja'Kyrian Turner, shifting short-yardage carries to the rest of the backfield. Cornerback Raion Strader and the Panthers defense also face the task of containing Miami receiver Malachi Toney while trying to erase a two-score deficit.

By the numbers: Miami receiver Malachi Toney recorded 39 catches for 604 yards during a 5-0 start.

What to watch: Pitt looks to generate defensive stops to close the 10-point margin against top-ranked Miami.
