What happened: MLB Network's DeRo examined Jackson Merrill's swing mechanics from his high school years, remarking that the tape shows why he went in the first round of his draft class. The segment looked back at Merrill's amateur days rather than any recent on-field development.

Why it matters: The look back comes as the same Merrill who has already gone deep eight times this season continues building his major league track record. Scouting retrospectives like this typically surface when a prospect's early tools translate cleanly to the pro level.

What to watch: Merrill continues to see regular playing time as the season moves forward.
