What happened: New Jersey sent Nashville a conditional first-round selection and a second-round selection in the 2028 NHL Draft. The 24-year-old winger is entering the final season of a two-year, $6 million contract.

Why it matters: New Jersey adds a forward coming off career highs in assists and points ahead of the 2026-27 season. Nashville converts a young winger into premium future capital while leaning on its depth at the position.

By the numbers: Evangelista produced 12 goals and 44 assists for 56 points in 81 games last season, a 0.69 points-per-game rate. He has 142 points in 253 regular-season games, including 97 assists.

What to watch: Evangelista’s role in New Jersey’s top nine will come into focus at training camp. His contract status also puts his next deal on the 2026-27 agenda.
