What happened: Torey Lovullo is returning as Diamondbacks manager on a two-year deal. The agreement keeps Arizona's dugout stable after his previous contract ran out with ownership set to decide his future this week.

Why it matters: Arizona clears one of its biggest offseason decisions at the end of the season and can move into roster planning with its manager in place. It also answers Lovullo's public push to stay in Arizona after he said he wanted to be wanted.

What to watch: Attention now shifts to any changes around Lovullo's staff and the club's first roster decisions of the winter.
