What happened: Dillon Brooks joined the public exchange between Kevin Durant and Suns governor Mat Ishbia over Ishbia calling the 2023 Durant trade a mistake. The back-and-forth continued after Ishbia told Durant he had not watched the full comments and Durant answered again.

Why it matters: The exchange keeps attention on the Suns tenure that produced one playoff series win before Durant was shipped to Houston in 2025. Brooks is now on Phoenix via extension, putting a current Suns player in a debate over the franchise's recent direction.

What to watch: Phoenix continues preseason preparations ahead of the 2026-27 season with Brooks in its defensive mix.
