What happened: The Los Angeles Dodgers officially placed Shohei Ohtani on the injured list Friday with biceps inflammation. The club called up prospect Josue De Paula from Double-A to make his MLB debut against the Miami Marlins. To create 40-man roster space, Los Angeles transferred left-hander Eric Lauer from the 15-day to the 60-day IL.

Why it matters: Lauer will not be eligible for activation until after the scheduled conclusion of the World Series. Despite the roster shuffle, Los Angeles retains significant pitching depth as Edwin Diaz and Kris Bubic continue their respective recoveries.
