What happened: Miami worked out McIntosh and Martinez among four running backs to restock the backfield. De'Von Achane tore his ACL in the Week 3 loss to Kansas City and was placed on injured reserve Sept. 28.

Why it matters: Achane ran 238 times for 1,350 yards and eight touchdowns across 16 games in 2025, leaving Miami without its lead runner. McIntosh missed all of 2025 with a training-camp ACL tear and Martinez opened 2026 unsigned after stints with Seattle and Green Bay.

By the numbers: De'Von Achane, 2025 with Miami (as of Sept. 29, 2026): 16 games, 238 carries, 1,350 yards, 8 touchdowns; drafted 84th overall in 2023 out of Texas A&M.

What to watch: Miami can add a back to the practice squad or active roster before its next game. The dress list will show whether either tryout earns a contract.
