Wire Report IntelligenceUpdated Jul 251 min read

What happened: Klepov had been committed to Michigan State for the 2026-27 season. He led the OHL with 97 points before Anaheim selected him in the first round.

Why it matters: The agreement moves Anaheim's top 2026 draft pick into its professional development pipeline. His departure removes the OHL scoring leader from Michigan State's incoming class.

By the numbers: Klepov recorded 37 goals and 60 assists in 2025-26. He became the third player to lead the OHL in scoring and win Rookie of the Year in the same season.

What to watch: Anaheim will determine Klepov's 2026-27 assignment during training camp.
