What happened: Kevin Durant enters the 2026-27 season fifth on the NBA all-time scoring list at 32,597 points. Kobe Bryant holds fourth at 33,643. Durant scored 2,026 points last season.

Why it matters: Fourth place would extend a climb that passed Michael Jordan for fifth last March. At 38, Durant remains within single-season range of Bryant based on last year's output.

By the numbers: 32,597 career points; 1,047 behind Bryant's 33,643; 2,026 points scored last season.

What to watch: The home opener starts the 2026-27 count. His early-season scoring pace will set the timeline for fourth.
